The gun was designed specially for 'Schkval' ('Squall') class russian river monitors built in 1907-10. In 1914 12 guns were transferred to coastal defence of Finnish gulf
The only survived sample is from battery #66 of Naval fortress of Peter the Great (Storklobb island). The barrel has No 16 and it was produced at Obukhovsky steel works in 1909
